By RealSoft – Madayn Implements Industrial Census Project to Support Vision 2040
Muscat – Sep 2nd
The Public Establishment for Industrial Estates “Madayn,” in collaboration with RealSoft Advanced Applications, has successfully implemented a comprehensive industrial census project. This project includes assessing added value and measuring investor satisfaction for 2021 and 2022 across all 12 industrial cities managed by Madayn, which are spread across various governorates of the Sultanate of Oman.
The industrial census project, along with the study of added value and investor satisfaction, is one of the fundamental pillars relied upon by Madayn in its planning and marketing efforts. Several indicators from Oman Vision 2040 are drawn from this project, aiming to support the development of business cities with an Omani identity and global standards, while enhancing sustainable economic and social development through partnerships with the private sector. The project also focuses on the development and operation of business cities that are fully serviced and responsive to changes.
The project involved the preparation of an integrated survey to collect statistical data from all companies and factories in the industrial cities using the latest technologies. This will enable decision-makers to understand the business environment in the industrial cities, identify current challenges, and develop appropriate solutions.
One of the most significant outcomes of the project is the creation of a comprehensive database of industrial projects within Madayn’s cities. This will contribute to the development of future plans and strategies to achieve Madayn’s vision of enhancing Oman’s position as a leading regional hub for manufacturing and information and communication technology while encouraging entrepreneurship and innovation. Through this project, Madayn hopes to attract industrial investments and provide the necessary support to investors through competitive strategies, robust infrastructure, value-added services, and streamlined government procedures.
The project included a comprehensive survey of all industrial establishments in Madayn’s cities, utilizing the 2008 System of National Accounts (SNA2008) methodology to calculate and extract key indicators. The final results of the project included a set of vital indicators, such as Gross Domestic Product (GDP), the contribution of industrial cities to both oil and non-oil GDP, as well as indicators of local added value, the volume of foreign investment, the percentage of local content, the performance of small and medium enterprises, export and import values, government revenues generated from industrial cities, and more.
Madayn seeks to use this data for strategic planning, supporting the development of both the industrial and non-industrial sectors in the Sultanate, understanding the dimensions of industrial and non-industrial activities, identifying the obstacles facing the industry, and addressing the needs of investors in the industrial cities.
