Iraqi Authority of Statistics with RealSoft Launch Segmentation and Enumeration Phase for 2024 Census
Baghdad, October 2024
On Sunday, September 1st, the Iraqi Authority of Statistics and Geographic Information Systems announced the commencement of the second phase of the 2024 national census, which involves the segmentation, numbering, and comprehensive enumeration of houses, buildings, and facilities across all Iraqi provinces. More than 30,000 trained researchers are participating in this phase.
This phase aims to list all residences and facilities and identify their characteristics and occupancy. It is considered a critical step in ensuring the success of the census scheduled to begin on November 20, 2024. During this stage, the segmentation, numbering, and enumeration of all residential and non-residential buildings will take place. Each researcher will segment neighborhoods and villages into small blocks and number them systematically, including both residential and non-residential buildings, to facilitate location identification and the provision of various services. The final step will involve gathering detailed population data, such as the number of families, individuals, and workers in facilities categorized by gender, nationality, and employment sectors.
The use of digital solutions is key to the success of these operations. The Statistics Authority has partnered with RealSoft Advanced Applications, which has developed several integrated tools to collect and organize this data. RealSoft employed its Al-Khwarizmi platform to design statistical forms and manage field and technical work, including an application for tablets to fill out forms and gather data during the census. RealSoft also deployed its specialized geographic update and mapping platform, FalconMap, which has been installed on the Authority’s servers and will be used during the actual enumeration phase. Additionally, RealSoft provided logistical systems to support the overall success of the census, such as inventory management, transportation and vehicle management, resource management, and logistical operations management systems.
Moreover, RealSoft plans to utilize its Data Portal product to display indicators, statistical tables, and visualizations of census data. This will be achieved after the installation and operation of the Data Model, Data Warehouse, reporting platform, and dashboards, along with the development of various reports and dashboards to monitor the census process.
RealSoft, with its extensive expertise, is committed to ensuring the success of the national census project, recognizing its pivotal role in Iraq’s development. RealSoft has mobilized all its resources to fully collaborate with the Statistics Authority, focusing on best practices to achieve the highest quality standards at every stage of the census.
